- A4 print. Orientation: landscape. Picture of a gloomy landscape under a forboding sky. The view is an imaginary one, and is from high-up, looking across a dark and unwelcoming plain. It was produced - "dashed-off" - in 1975 or 1976 when the artist was at university and was very depressed about the state of the world, about being gay, perticularly about having fallen in love with a straight guy, and was wondering how he could ever be happy under such circumstances. In retrospect this could sound self-indulgent, but at the time the feelings were very real, pervasive, deep and debilitating. Original media: water colour paints and pastels on paper. Original size: A5.
